Foto: EACEAIn January the first tool of the European Higher Education Sector Observatory (EHESO) was launched: The European Higher Education Sectors Scoreboard (EHESS). The publication of the EHESO was accompanied by a launch conference on 30th January 2025 in Brussels.
The new European Higher Education Sector Scoreboard (EHESS) organizes data across five key themes aligned with the EU’s higher education objectives:
- Strengthening transnational cooperation in education, research, and innovation
- Promoting EU values such as autonomy, academic freedom, gender equality, and inclusiveness
- Developing future-proof skills and fostering collaboration with industrial ecosystems
- Enhancing international cooperation in education and research
- Analysing key contextual indicators of higher education systems
The inaugural edition draws from reliable sources, including Eurostat, the European Tertiary Education Register (ETER), U-Multirank and Eurostudent. Covering trends from 2015 to 2022, it provides insights into 38 countries, including EU member states, EEA countries, candidate countries, and the UK.
The new scoreboard is available on the National Policies Platform, an initiative of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
The European Higher Education Sector Observatory is being developed thanks to funding from Erasmus+, the European programme for education, training, youth and sport. It is an initiative by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport, and Culture.
