Project: WISIH – social innovations from higher education institutions

WISIH stands for “Paths and indicators of social innovations for higher education institutions”. In the field of Nursing Science and in Occupational, Organisational and Business Psychology, examples of social innovation are collected; paths and indicators are identified; and an indicator model based on the findings is tested in practice.

Interview: “I generally consider universities of applied sciences to be a success story.”

Germany’s first universities of applied sciences were established in 1969. In its “Campus und Karriere” (Campus and Careers) programme, the broadcaster Deutschlandfunk discussed the role and the future of this type of university with experts. Among the guest speakers were Muriel Helbig (President of TH Lübeck), Karim Khakzar (Fulda University of Applied Sciences) and CHE Executive Director Frank Ziegele. Women currently account for 21 per cent of all IT students at German higher education institutions. A survey of computer science students conducted by the CHE Centre for Higher Education investigates the reasons for this disparity, and ways to counteract it. Go to download
